TIO*T* – Animal Challenge

Filed in Decorative

Happy Thursday Friends~

Today is Day 3 at CHA!  Woot Woot!  Got a migraine at the end of Day 1…not so fun!  I did get the chance to meet up with Marti, my fellow DT member at SCACD…today I am planning on meeting up with the fabulous Suzanne!  Yippy!

So today is Thursday….and you know what that means….TIO*T*!!!  This week’s challenge is to use an ANIMAL on your card!

For my card I have decided to use Teddi and Friend!  Of course I had to make a gift set too! :)

Here’s Teddi and Friend again!  Don’t you love this Teddi stamp?  I absolutely love him!  Papers are from the fabulous Memory Box Jubilee collection.  Sentiment is from the fabulous KK Goldilocks stamp set.

Teddi was colored with Copics.  As you can see the I’ve used my Viva Decor Ice White Pearl pen and added custom sized pearls to the scalloped oval.  Behind the scalloped oval is a Labels 11Illuminate Smooch has been added to the flowers and butterfly for some sparkle.

Flowers are from Wild Orchid and consist of pink Classic Sweet Rose25mm rose, 15mm roses, 10mm roses, and aster daisy.  The charm was a gift in an order that I recently purchased.  Papers were edged in star dust stickles.

I hope you’ve liked my gift set!  Now make sure you head over to the SCACD Blog to check out what the other girls have made.

Bamboo Jewelry

Filed in Decorative

There are so many jewelry shops on Etsy, it’s wonderful when I find a unique one.
JP Tags has some really cool bamboo earrings, plus other amazing items :)

*Where are you from? Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hello I am Jarrett Parker I am originally from Montgomery, Alabama but currently reside in Savannah, GA where I attended Savannah College of Art and Design.

*How did you decide on your shop name?
Its my name, kept it simple.

Why did you start your business?
I have always been creative. I started working on this project and locally received a lot of positive feedback from peers so I decided to put my creations out there to share with others.

*What or who inspires you?
My sources of inspiration change. For this group of items I was inspired by spirituality and The Holy Trinity.

What are 5 things you want people to think when they see your product?
I want to have that. :)

*What’s your supply addiction; is there a specific color or type of supply you just can’t pass up?
I like experimenting but as of right now I am loving the bamboo.

*Which item in your shop did you enjoy making the most and why?
I enjoy making all my items. But as of recently I really enjoyed making my letter-graphic and trinity earrings. Women suggested I design some earrings and so I did and am really pleased with the outcome.

*Are there other places on the net we can find you?
I am also on a site similar to etsy called ponoko at

Sunflower Festival Part 3 – the Quilt Show

Filed in Decorative

There is a wonderful quilting club in town – Heirloom Quilters. One of my neighbors is in the group, a fellow bus driver and also Peter, a friend we’ve had for years. Peter just started quilting and is doing a quilt for each of his boys.

The oldest son has this quilt. The top is exactly like the bottom, but the quilts are so long they had to fold them over to get them to hang in the space.

The youngest son is getting this one. Yes they are eggs, one for each month of the year. The one that is for June has his son’s year of high school graduation on it – 2016. Isn’t that just the neatest quilt?

The middle son’s will be done this year :)

The quilters group made a quilt to cover a car for in the parade. Isn’t that amazing? Wonder how long it took to make it?

This was our favorite. We loved the colors and the design.

Yes it’s black and white. There was a whole section of black and white quilts, in all sizes, but this was my favorite.

Here are some other quilts from the show:

Stay tuned for the last installment of the Sunflower Festival – The Gallery in the Park. Posted on Friday.

WOJ #84 – Fuzz It

Filed in Decorative

Hello Everyone~

Hope you are having a wonderful week so far!  CHA has been awesome…got a migraine at the end of day one so that hasn’t been the greatest…hoping the headache goes away REAL fast!  This week at WOJ Challenge Blog Donalda has put together a very fun challenge!  This week is to FUZZ your projects!  This can be felt, flower soft, flock, anything fuzzy!

For my card I have used this new cutie from the Summer Store Stamp Kit.  I absolutely love this cutie!  I paired her up with some Cosmo Cricket DeLovely papers.  The edge of my papers have been stickalized with star dust stickles.

Of course the image of this bathing beauty and the starfish were colored with Copics.  I’ve tried coloring her with darker “skin” colors to make it look like she got a tan.  Then, I’ve used Silver Spica on her sunglasses and then coated the lenses with diamond glaze for a more realistic “sunglass” look.  For my Fuzz I have added ultra fine flower soft in sand to parts of the beach, and then I took white flock and created some white puffy clouds in my airbrushed sky.  The beach scene was created with my Copic ABS.

Flower are from the famous, Wild Orchid Crafts.  This first arrangement uses the Daffodils and 6mm closed rosebuds.

The bottom arrangement was made with 35mm Large 2-colored Wild Rose, another Daffodil, and some 15mm yellow roses that I took my Copic ABS and airbrushed to match the large wild rose being 2 colors.

Finally here is another view so that you can see the “fuzz” on my project better.

**BLOG CANDY UPDATE: Don’t forget about the candy that Susana has running over at the SCACD blog!**

Teaser Tuesday – Rules of Deception

Filed in Decorative

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme,
hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Teaser for the Week:
It’s none of your business. Leave it. It can only go badly for you. Philip Palumbo mulled over thewords, then leaned across the front seat of his car and removed his service sidearm from the glove compartment. It was because nobody took a stand that the world was in such sorry shape.”

Page 273, “Rules of Deception” by Christopher Reich

This is the first book I’m reading by this author. It took a little while to get into. The beginning few chapters are 3 different stories, hopefully they all come together eventually :) It’s good though. This is the first book in a series, will definitely be getting the next one.

What are you reading today?

Sunflower Festival Part 2 – Car Show

Filed in Decorative

Every year the local car club puts on a show in the park on Sunday afternoon during the festival. Of course there was no way to take a photo of every car and post it here, so I took photos of a few favorites :)

This next car has a story. We talked to one of the people who owns it now. It was his brothers car, but he passed away before he could work on it. So the rest of the family got together and finished it in his memory. The numbers above the finish line are 38.08.13 – meaning he lived to be 38 years, 8 months and 13 days. Way to young to have passed on. But his family did an amazing job! What a wonderful way to remember someone.

I know it’s not a car – but I like it!

Stay tuned for Part 3 on Wednesday – The Quilt Show!

WOC #2

Filed in Decorative

Good Morning Everyone~

I hope your week is off to a good start!  In a few hours I will be driving to Chicago for CHA!  Woot Woot!  I am so excited I can’t even stand it!!!! :)   I’m so looking forward to the vacation from school….although I will be wondering what I am missing this week….good thing I have a group member I am close to who will keep me in the loop!

It’s hard to believe 2 weeks have already passed since the debut of the Wild Orchid Crafts Challenge Blog!!!  WOW we are thrilled to bits with all of the entries…we hope that you will join us for Challenge #2 which is LACE!  Use lace on your projects….

For my card I have decided to make an easel card…it’s been a while since I last made one and I love how these look!  Papers are K&Company.  I’ve been seeing quite a few people stamping their images on Kraft cardstock and then coloring.  I thought I would give this a go with my rustic/western theme.

For my image, I’ve used Howdy from Sampler Edition #5 by Elisabeth Bell exclusively for SCACD.  My lace is from Wild Orchid Crafts, it’s the Natural Cotton Lace.  I’ve pleated the lace around Howdy and the outside border of the card….love the look this gives.  WOC has LOTS of fantastic lace!!!  Make sure you go and check them out.

Howdy has been colored with Copics on kraft cardstock.  **TIP** One thing I have noticed when coloring on kraft cardstock is that you have to use darker shades of colors.  I wanted light pink but when I started coloring with the original colors I had picked out they didn’t even show up on the paper…so make sure you use a darker shade for your wanted colors.  Howdy’s belt and tops of her boots have been painted with Copic Opaque White and then gone over with Viva Decor Glitter Liner in Hologram.  The glitter liner was also added to the flowers on her hat and shirt.  Then Viva Decor Cream Pearl Liner was used around the scalloped Oval nestie.

The flowers are all from Wild Orchid and consist of 35mm Wild Rose, 30mm Wild Rose, 25mm Rose, 15mm Roses, 10mm roses, and 6mm closed rosebuds.  Flowers were adhered with Incredibly Tacky Glue.  I am telling this glue is the BEST for adhering flowers!  I used to use glue dots, but after a month the flowers would fall off.  With Incredibly Tacky I no longer have random flowers falling off cards…it’s amazing!!! I total must have!  The jewels in the flower arrangement are Light Pink Crystal Drops.  Flowers have been sparklized with diamond stickles.

Here’s the bottom panel of the card.  Sentiment is from Verve and nested on top a Labels One die and scalloped oval.  Ribbon is Baby Pink 25mm Organza Ribbon also from Wild Orchid!  They have a fabulous collection of colors.  The bow was created with my Bow Easy.

Corners were decorated with pearls made by my Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my lace creation.  Now make sure you head over to the WOC Challenge Blog to see the rest of the DT’s amazing creations!!!  And head over to Wild Orchid to get some lace, flowers and to check out all their newest adds…I hear there’s lots of bling!

Sunflower Fesitval Parade

Filed in Decorative

In July Altona, my home town, holds the Manitoba Sunflower Festival. It starts on Friday with a few things happening around town, but Saturday is the big day. Everything begins with the morning parade :)

Waiting for the parade to start. Right to left – Brad (hat), Heather (Logan’s girlfriend), Logan, Luke and Zach (friend of the family)

Why does the first thing in a parade have to be bag pipes? Not my favorite sound.

We are only 6 miles from the ND border, and there are quite a few Americans that come up for shopping and the Festival.

Apparently every guy needs a motorized bar stool?

I want one of these!! But maybe in yellow or red.

Just what every one needs! A motorized couch :) The gentleman in red owns the local Furniture store.

Brad wanted a photo of the truck with bubbles.

Last summer Luke worked at Fort Garry Fire Trucks in the Engineering department. Altona was getting a new Fire Truck that year and Luke even got do design a few small pieces for it. This is the Fire Truck.

Since it’s a farming community you have to have some machinery in the parade :)

I didn’t take photo’s of every float or entry – that would just take too long! Stay tuned for Part 2.
